Han Kuang Exercise Accident: Military Self-propelled Artillery Crashed into 4 Vehicles at Nigh

The Han Kuang 41 Exercise mobilized the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and showcased the M1A2T tank, known as one of the strongest tanks in the world. During its first live-fire demonstration, the tank showed great power and mobility.

However, on July 10 at night, an accident happened during the exercise. An Army M109A5 self-propelled artillery was moving through Taoyuan City and crashed into a small truck parked by the roadside due to the driver’s unfamiliarity with the road conditions. It also damaged three passenger cars ahead. Luckily, no one was hurt. The military said it has started compensation procedures and will improve nighttime driving safety training to avoid similar accidents in the future.

AI Uses News Content: U.S. Media Traffic Drops and Lawsuits Begin

As AI technology grows, large language models take content directly from websites. This lets users get key information without visiting the sites, but causes big problems for media companies, such as losing traffic and advertising money.

Some companies, like The Atlantic Monthly, have made paid deals with OpenAI and blocked other AI crawlers. Others, like The New York Times, have sued Microsoft and OpenAI. Media companies are asking for protection of intellectual property, saying that without fair payment, no one will want to create good-quality content.

Hong Kong Police Force Arrest 4 for “Endangering National Security,” Who Had Held Meetings in Taiwan

On July 10, the Hong Kong Police Force said they had arrested four men from a group accused of threatening national security. The group started on social media last November and held an online meeting in Taiwan earlier this year. They talked about plans like “ending the Chinese Communist Party” and “freeing Hong Kong,” and asked for international support.

In response, Hong Kong Police Force stated that this shows that overseas groups are using social media to spread messages that harm national security. They also warned that actions from outside are subject to the Hong Kong National Security Law.

The AI Wave Hits the Workplace: How to Turn Crisis into Opportunity?

Recently, big companies like Microsoft and Amazon have started layoffs due to AI technology, making many workers feel anxious. Experts say AI is not the enemy; the real problem is a lack of progress in thinking and attitude.

Nowadays, one skill is no longer enough to stay competitive. Workers should learn more skills across different fields, improve their ability to use AI tools, and plan their roles in the “post-AI era” early. By using AI tools, or bringing AI into their current work, people can turn challenges into opportunities and adapt to this big change.

The World’s Most Dangerous Starbucks: Drink Coffee While Watching North Korea

Last year, a Starbucks opened near the Demilitarized Zone in Gyeonggi Province, only 1.4 kilometers from North Korea. From the store, visitors can see North Korean villages clearly through big windows. The store gets about 600 visitors a day and has become a popular spot for photos.

However, running the store is not easy. It is only open from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM each day, and visitors must go through military checkpoints first. Some people also question if it is right to have a business in such an important military area. Even so, this Starbucks does show a creative mix of cultural tourism and brand strategy.

Let’s wrap up today’s episode. We’ve learned about some important events happening around the world.

  • During the Han Kuang military exercise, an Army artillery vehicle hit four parked cars in Taoyuan at night, causing damage but no injuries.
  • Media companies are losing website traffic and money because AI tools take their content, leading to lawsuits and demands for fair payment to protect intellectual property.
  • Hong Kong Police Force arrested four men from a group that used social media to spread messages against China and held online meetings in Taiwan to ask for international support.
  • Workers are advised to learn new skills and use AI tools to stay competitive as AI technology changes jobs and creates challenges.
  • A Starbucks near the North Korea border offers views of North Korean villages but faces questions about running a business in a military area.

In the next episode, we will together explore the recent hot news with you in the morning. Don’t forget to come back. Have a nice day and hear me next time. Bye!
